Launch of programme to combat trafficking falsified medicines

20190925-Medicines

The Brazzaville Foundation took advantage of the ceremonies organised in Congo, during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Creation of the Blue Fund on March 9, 2017, to announce its new initiative against trafficking fake medicines.

Today, the Foundation intends to focus on four priority areas:

- The establishment of a more repressive judicial system by revising and redefining the penalties for the manufacture and marketing of fake medicines;

- Strengthening the resources needed to develop effective international police coordination to dismantle supply chains and set up a genuine traceability system and reinforced controls;

- The implementation of a public awareness campaign on the dangers of these fake medicines, which would target women, the pillars of the family nucleus;

- Promoting dialogue between the pharmaceutical industry and governments with a view to finding a solution for populations.
