Brazzaville Foundation at the 9th World Water Forum in Dakar
March 26, Dakar - The Senegalese capital hosted the 9th edition of the World Water Forum, from March 21 to 26, under the theme "Water security for peace and development". Brazzaville Foundation took part in a coordinated session on peace and stability.

Hosting the event, President Macky Sall pointed out that the forum was taking place "at a time when the scarcity of water resources and environmental degradation continue to worsen". For the Senegalese president, citing a UN report, "the situation is not reassuring", particularly as "two out of every five people in the world live in regions where water is scarce". The 9th World Water Forum gave the opportunity to make the voice of the Congo Basin heard, first of all through the President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou N'Guesso, who is also the President of the Congo Basin Climate Commission (CBCC). He delivered in plenary a speech He reiterated the urgency of preserving the second lung of the planet and called on the international community to commit to funding the Congo Basin Blue Fund. This high-level advocacy was reinforced during the various meetings conducted by Arlette Soudan Nonault, Minister of Environment, Sustainable Development and the Congo Basin of the Republic of Congo and Technical Coordinator of the CBCC.
As a technical partner of the CBCC, the Brazzaville Foundation, represented by its Chief Executive Richard Amalvy, intervened in a session coordinated by the UNECE (*) on the theme "water as a tool for cooperation, stability and peace". Representing the voice of civil society, the Chief Executive welcomed the dialogue established by the sixteen member countries of the CBCC, with the support of the Kingdom of Morocco, and the primacy of African competence in the governance of the Congo Basin Blue Funda guarantee of successful regional integration.
