Prof. François Tron

François Tron is Professor of Immunology and a hospital practitioner. He worked at the Necker Hospital in Paris, then at the Rouen University Hospital Centre and has made research contributions at the University of Rouen and INSERM. François Tron studied medicine at the Faculty of Medicine in Paris. He specialised in Nephrology and worked at the Necker Hospital in the clinical department and the INSERM unit directed by Jean Hamburger. The study of an auto-immune disease, systemic lupus, led him to specialise in immunology. He then carried out research as Medical Director of the industrial department of the Pasteur Institute and contributed to the development of new vaccines. Finally, he joined the University of Rouen where he continued his clinical and research activities on autoimmune diseases. François Tron was a member of the approval committee of the French Medicines Agency. He has received numerous awards, including the Bariot-Feynot Prize from the Academy of Sciences, and is also an Officer of the National Order of Merit and a Knight of the Legion of Honour.
