Following the launch of the Lomé Initiative against SFM in January 2020, the Ministry of Health is acting as the political coordinator of this programme initiative, which also involves the Republic of Congo, Ghana, Niger, Senegal, and Uganda. Working jointly with the Brazzaville Foundation, technical coordinator, it is currently preparing a common agenda for the next World Health Assembly, to be held in Geneva from 21 to 30 May, and for the WHO Africa Regional Committee, which will be hosted from 28 August to 1 September in Botswana. The Prime Minister welcomed the increased advocacy efforts since January 2020, and the strategic alliances forged to this effect.

The Minister and Chief Executive also presented the methodology for developing and implementing national plans to combat FSM. It will be used in the pilot project which is currently being launched in Togo, and which includes an inter-ministerial consultation to involve all the administrations involved in the future plan. The Chief Executive thanked the Prime Minister for the trust placed in the Brazzaville Foundation by the Togolese government and confirmed that a Head of mission in charge of technical support, Mr. Cédric Otse Mawandza, will soon be arriving.
