Fight against fake medicines: Jean-Yves Ollivier was invited by Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai

25 May, Monrovia - Jean-Yves Ollivier, Founding Chairman of the Brazzaville Foundation, met with Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to discuss the fight against medicines that kill in Africa. During the meeting, initiated by the Republic of Liberia, Jean-Yves Ollivier presented the objectives and actions of the Lomé Initiative to effectively combat substandard and falsified medical products (SFMP) on the African continent. The possibility of collaborating on other areas of intervention of the Brazzaville Foundation was also discussed.

A working session was also held with the Deputy Minister of Health and his key collaborators to discuss ways of cooperating in the fight against SFMP, including the adoption of the model pharmaceutical law promoted by the African Union's AUDA NEPAD, support for the creation of the African Medicines Agency (AMA) and the signing of international treaties such as the Council of Europe's MEDICRIME Convention.
