On April 7, 2021, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and African Countries, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov received Jean-Yves Ollivier, President of Brazzaville Foundation.

In the course of the conversation, a mutually interesting exchange of views took place on topical African issues, focusing on the need to overcome crises and conflict situations on the continent in line with the principle of "African problems - African solutions".

The challenges of Russian-African cooperation were also discussed in the context of implementing the results of the first Russia-Africa summit in Sochi in October 2019, and preparations for the next summit in 2022 in one of the continent's states. The Russia-Africa summit concluded with the signing of a joint declaration in which the development of cooperation on an egalitarian basis, particularly at the economic and trade levels, was raised. Better representation of Africa on the United Nations Security Council was also discussed.
