Falsified medicines: WHO Chief Executive reiterates its support for the Lomé Initiative
22 August, in Lome (Togo) - Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Chief Executive of the World Health Organization (WHO), praised the efforts of African leaders to protect the health of populations at the opening ceremony of the 72nd WHO Regional Committee for Africa.
Two years after his last trip to the Togolese capital to support the launch of the Lomé Initiative, the commitment of WHO and its Chief Executive to support African countries in the fight against falsified and substandard medicines remains intact.
He is among the high-level personalities taking part in the side event organised organised by the Togolese Ministry of Health, the WHO Africa Regional Office and the Brazzaville Foundation on Tuesday 23 August: "Fighting medicines that kill in Africa: a collaborative and integrated approach".
