The Brazzaville Foundation takes part in the 74th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa
26 August, Brazzaville – The Congolese capital hosts the 74th session of the Regional Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Africa. Over five days, participants will review and approve regional policies, activities and financial plans to improve the health and well-being of people across the African continent. The election of a new Regional Director is one of the highlights of the agenda.

The Brazzaville Foundation takes part in the Committee alongside the Ministries of Health of the Togolese Republic and the Republic of the Congo to advocate for the inclusion of the fight against substandard and falsified medical products (SFMP) on the global agenda. A side event will be organised on this theme, with an emphasis on the causal relationship between SFMP and kidney failure, the need for dialysis and hemodialysis technical platforms of international standard. It is planned to involve institutional, private and civil society actors. The Lomé Initiative will be at the heart of the discussions, as an exemplary platform to effectively fight this scourge.
The President of the Republic of Congo, H.E. Denis Sassou N'Guesso, officially opened the 74th session, under the theme: "A world mobilized for health, health for everyone". This session is chaired by Mr. Gilbert Mokoki, Minister of Health of the Republic of Congo, with the active participation of the WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and WHO Regional Director for Africa, Dr Moeti Matshidiso.
