The Republic of Senegal strengthens its commitment against fake medicines
Geneva, 29 May, Gaborone, 31 August 2023 - The Brazzaville Foundation has held a first working meeting with a delegation from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Senegal, present in Geneva on the sidelines of the World Health Assembly in May 2023, led by Dr. Oumy Kalsoum Ndiaye Ndao, Director General of the Senegalese Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency.

Discussions focused on the Senegalese Republic's best practices in the fight against substandard and falsified medical products, and the creation of value chains for pharmaceutical products, in this case the yellow fever vaccine in Senegal.
The organisation of a technical seminar in collaboration with the UNODC and Unesco regional offices was also discussed. It would be part of the modelling of the Lomé Initiative methodology tested with the pilot project in Togo.
A second coordination meeting was held in Gaborone, Botswana, on 31 September, during which Dr Barnabé Gning, Director-General of Public Health, confirmed Senegal’s commitment.
