Lomé, 4 April 2023 - Professor Moustafa Mijiyawa, Minister of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Access to Health Care of the Togolese Republic, presented his book on the contractual approach in public health facilities in Togo to an audience composed of directors of pharmacy, directors of pharmaceutical regulatory authorities representing fifteen French-speaking African countries, and representatives of the pharmaceutical industry at the international level. The professor of rheumatology turned into a professor of management for more than an hour, convincing on the merits of his method.

In this scholarly book, which provides an understanding of the problems of public health management in African countries since independence, the Togolese minister sheds light on the far-reaching reform that he has imposed on the public hospital sector, with the support of President Faure Gnassingbé. Management control has made it possible to drain the sources of corruption and prevarication and has mechanically increased the financial resources of public hospitals, while developing and improving the supply of care, increasing consultation and hospitalisation rates, and ensuring better availability of pharmaceutical products.

The audience, won over by Professor Mijiyawa's oratorical skills and graphics, was delighted to see a successful experiment in supply chain management for public sector pharmacies, enabling patients to obtain quality medicines at an affordable price.
