DRC ready to join the Lomé Initiative

Geneva, 26 May 2023 - Following the Democratic Republic of Congo's expression of interest in joining the Lomé Initiative, the Brazzaville Foundation invited the country's delegation to a working lunch. The delegation was led by Mr. Bonkafo Efofa Ikelemba Frank Papy, Senior Health and Welfare Advisor to the Head of State, H.E. Mr. Felix Antoine Tshisekedi.

Discussions focused on the materialisation of the DRC's accession to the Lomé Initiative, which is part of the agreements in principle between the Head of State and Mr. Jean-Yves Ollivier, Founding Chairman of the Brazzaville Foundation. The meeting focused on the progress made in the DRC since the creation of a pharmaceutical regulatory agency, on subjects linking environmental and public health issues, and on the technical support that the Foundation can provide following the implementation of the pilot project in Togo. The meeting concluded with the willingness to meet again.
